Valuable Lessons for an Entrepreneur II - Time is of the Essence

This year, we have constantly been reminded of what differentiates an entrepreneur from everyone else: the ability to DO things i.e. the ability to actually make things happens. There are millions of people who have thought of great business ideas that address peoples needs or have found some form of gap in the market, but much less people actually go out there and make it happen. Some could even get very far in the process, reach a major hurdle and not progress beyond that. So instead of creating excuses, doing endless research, and marinating on ideas it’s significant to start implementing them right now or sooner. This is because the longer you think about it; the more lightly it remains an idea. Also we underestimate just how long a process may take to get our ideas to from concept to creation. With Rain Dear had we started the manufacturing any later, we would have completely missed the raining season, and we would have had much less time to focus on sales, which we completely underestimated as a task. Had we started earlier, we would have had much more time to push our sales and our brand would have been established much sooner.

Not only is time applicable when starting the business and getting the product out there, but with operating the brand and innovating, and implementing your businesses’ objectives for the year. It is significant that to get to everything on your to do list! Procrastination yields no success, and actually causes you to regress, as it actually becomes the opportunity cost of your progression. Time in life is very limited, and think about 5 years down the line, if you really want to be still thinking about your idea. Success begets success so the sooner you start the more success you’ll see come your way in exactly the same time frame. So what are you waiting for! Go out and DO!
