Leadership… What does it take to be a great leader? How do you even define a great leader? Are great leaders the heads of successful companies or presidents? What I have come to learn is that a great leader is not what everyone expects. Most people think good coordinators and communicators are great leaders, they organise and structure businesses and teams or countries even. Great leaders aren’t the ones who standout in a crowd and make sure their point of view or voice is heard for whatever purpose.
What I have come to realise is that great leaders are the ones that do all the above, but the difference is that they inspire people to do better. They inspire people to go beyond their limits and achieve what it is that they want to achieve. Great leaders also want everyone to succeed. They want to uplift and build those around them in the hopes that they too will do the same to others.
Great leaders do what must be done no matter the consequences and put others ahead of themselves. The word selfish isn’t in their vocabulary.
So in business how do you become a great leader? Getting stinking rich is great and is properly the bed time dreams and goals of every single person on this planet. For me great leaders in business are those that empower those around them and provide a good or service that enriches the lives of all people – not just the ones able to afford the luxuries of this world. Simple as that.
