Body, Integrity, Choice

In recent months I have learnt how important it is to look after your body especially if you are working under a stressful environment. By looking after my body through exercise I have enabled myself a healthy balance between work and relaxation. I see exercise as relaxation because it is a time where I can think and let my mind appreciate all that is around, which I feel is very important. Cape Town is such a beautiful city and often its visual art display that it puts on for us each day is so easily taken for granted. Having this balance for your body gives you more energy and keeps it healthier.

Another thing that us as humans are given the option of is integrity. Having moral principals and being honest is something that we can ignore or embrace into our day-to-day lives. Society often constructs what is good and what is bad integrity but from what I have learnt is that you need to establish your own set of moral principals in which to live by because by doing that you can not only be true to yourself but be true to others.

Making choices is the next thing. Choice is something that we are given and often the choices we make are directly influenced by our moral principals. These all tie in because by having good moral principals to live by will result in us making healthy choices that will not only benefit ourselves but others around us. I read an interesting quote the other day that said: “To truly be a leader is to silence your ego/personal wants for just enough time to make the world a little better”. This resonated with me because often ego can get in the way of making rational decisions.

In business I have learnt that choices should never be there to benefit yourself, which is often the case as society and people within society think about themselves before others. People can base their choices around flourishing their own egos into something that makes them ignore the people that could be hurt along the way. I do not want to live my life like this and I aim on ensuring that the choices I make can not only help me along the way but the others around me.
