The Speckled Eggs Incentive

The sales competition consists of:

  • A period of one month

  • Weekly incentives and targets

  • The targets and achievements must be public

  • There must be a leaderboard

  • The incentives must be worth while

  • Coach performance each week

  • Make sure there is a prize for the most supportive team member.

We understand that in order for this to be successful we need to have an incentive that will work for our group. At first we didn’t want the incentive to be a financial incentive. Partly because we didn’t want it to become a costly expense and we wanted to keep it light hearted and playful. As a group we wanted to make sure that competition remains positive for all the members and has a valuable outcome for the business as a whole. We understand that introducing financial incentives could destroy the group dynamic by introducing unhealthy competition by competing against one another as opposed to competing together.

The weekly incentives for each member reaching their targets include a bottle of wine and the monthly incentive for the person who makes the most sales within September wins R100 worth of anything that they would like. This we named the “Speckled Egg Incentive”. The culture within our group is very important to us. We realise that these types of incentives are important to differentiate ourselves from the other groups and also to make the activities more fun and enjoyable. Receiving recognition instead of rewards can be very valuable within an organisation as well as a group as ours. For this reason the person that reaches their weekly target or achieves the most sales will receive a blog post about them that highlights their achievement and how they managed to make so many successful sales. This will benefit the rest of the group as well as encourage the group to try harder and learn from their sales techniques.

The mentor coaching will be very valuable in our group. We have decided to pair those who are introverted with those who are extroverted and enjoy interacting and approaching people. We have decided to pair those individuals who will gain value from one another. This will therefore enable each pair to learn valuable skills and better their sales techniques.
