Just COMMIT

So today as part of our events management class, we had one of the members of seed experiences come and speak to us about their main event Rocking the Daisies. His lecture was structured around how they started with their first event and went on to where they were today. What impressed me most about Seed experiences was just how much they committed to the event regardless of its humble start. One of the largest sought out event started out with a crowd of merely 700 people. They such major losses that homes and cars had to be sold to pay off the first event. Even with this, they still went on to host a second event, which also came at a loss. At this point many would have thrown in the towel but they still pioneered on to their third event and only made money on their fourth one. This continuous risk required by many entrepreneurs is one in which many individuals shy away from. A lot of individuals want to be entrepreneurs when they start up but shy away when they are faced with the realities of the potential losses and sacrifices they will have to make, without knowing if it will all come right in the end.
What also stuck with me was how long it took them to become as big as they are today. The event did not grow in the first second or even third year in to what we currently know it as. Rocking the Daisies have had to go through 10 years of mistakes, changes, losses and gains to get to where it is. The event has literally had to grow for a while. This was the same with the guest speaker before who started Wedding Concepts, one of the best wedding planners in the country. Her company has also been around for 10 years and now many international clients are referred to them and they have also started diversifying into travel packages and other personal events.
So as an entrepreneur I hope that I, and all of you who hope to become one, are able to handle the amount of patience, sacrifice and tenacity required by all business who aspire to achieve real success.
