Standing on the shoulders of GIANTS

Work is mounting, deadlines are drawing closer and I remember one thing in particular from one of our orientation lectures, “You cannot do this alone” we were told, at the time I thought “Really?”

Well when I think of the scope of the things that we as a team and I as an individual want to achieve this year that lesson is truly hitting home. I am a very individual person especially when it comes to the work I produce, I like to evaluate my performance and see where I stand…individually.

This past month and the months ahead are an experience in growth as I’m learning to be open to different perspectives and to work as part of an effective team.

I am so glad that I am not facing everything alone. It’s a lesson I will take into business – to pick good partners with skills that complement each other and focus on my areas strength. This year if we all focus on our 20% strength and not on the 80% of things that we are mediocre at we will be a really strong team. However we would not be able to get anywhere without the good training and guidance of all of those who are investing in our futures.

Food for thought:

When we succeed in anything, let us not forget to who went before us and helped us get there.

Sir Isaac Newton once said:

"What Descartes did was a good step. You have added much several ways, and especially in taking the colours of thin plates into philosophical consideration. If I have seen a little further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants."

Who’s shoulders got you to where you are today?
