Pre-market day MAYHEM

Last week was about making sure we had all of our sponsors secured. After loosing a couple key sponsors we had to keep our heads up high in order to move forward, because getting bogged down gets you nowhere. So today started by hitting the ground running, literally. I woke up at 5:30 in order to prepare for today. Today was collection day, which meant we had to go and collect all of our orders from our various sponsors. Each group member had a task delegated so that we could maximize efficiency. My task for today was to organize and rent heavy duty extension cables and these were crucial because after speaking to people who had done it in the past they said that some machines use a lot of power and a standard cable can not withstand the demand of power, which was why we thought we would hire two cables so that we would have enough length and power for the tomorrow.
My second task was to collect a big fridge, which was also crucial as we had nearly 500 juices that needed to be kept cool and about 70kg’s of boerewors that needed to be kept fresh. Both of these items needed to be set up this evening because we needed to make sure that everything was up and running for tomorrow. After my collections I was off to UCT in order to begin to set up for tomorrow. The first issue was getting the fridge off the car because it needed about four men in order to do so. Once that was sorted out we could plug in the extension cables and get the fridge cool. Each of my teammates was arriving at different times with all of our gear and inventory for tomorrow.
It was now time for setting up all of our various gazebos, which were provided by our generous sponsors. We all put our heads together in order to establish what would be the best way to set up our stand. We all managed to do this surprisingly quickly which was amazing and once everything was up we could all take a step back and admire out work. Tomorrow was the real test though, so four of my group members went and did last minute preparations at home and myself and my other teammate manned the fort and readied ourselves for the night shift on UCT campus in order to look after all of out items and out stand.
